Day 9 - Taking inspiration from a fellow designer

10 Jul 2023

Work hours: 1.5 hrs

Today was my first day at my new full-time job, so I didn't have much time to dive into my portfolio website.

I discovered a fantastic YouTube video where a fellow designer shared a step-by-step process of designing his portfolio website. What's even more impressive is that I realized our mindset is very similar when it comes to design. It's like he's an artist too, and the way he presents his ideas really resonates with me. I am inspired by their notes and articles, which serve as excellent references for me. It's always refreshing to connect with design peers who share similar views and visions within the UX field. I'm even tempted to reach out to him and engage in some thought-provoking conversations.

The video itself is a treasure trove of insights that I can apply to my own website. Some of their points really struck a chord with me, and I'm seriously considering following their advice:

  1. Start with a solid information structure.

  2. Seek feedback from seasoned designers once my website is ready.

  3. Invest time and resources in top-notch photography and captivating copywriting.

Tomorrow, my plan is to revisit all my previous design projects and artwork, carefully reviewing and organizing them. This will help me kickstart the process of crafting a well-thought-out information architecture for my website. Stay tuned!

Oh, and here are the links to that inspiring YouTube video and the designer's captivating portfolio website:
